虽然名字有所不同，但游戏内容却相差不多。新版游戏以2009年3月推出的《生化危机5》为基础升级而来，完整承袭原作内容，并预定追加2段追加新章节。其中一段为描述本篇故事主角克里斯与搭档吉尔一同潜入史宾瑟宅邸探查经历的“迷失于梦魇之中”。游戏将收录后来已释出的所有下载追加内容，包括克里斯与谢娃的新服装“战士服”与“民俗服”，以新服装造型打倒敌人挑战得分的新佣兵模式“佣兵重聚模式”，新增人物共8人，有战士装的克里斯、秘书装的谢娃、以及乔许和艾克塞拉，还有曾经初代生化危机登场的巴利和瑞贝卡，最多4人连线挑战2种对战玩法的“对战模式”，以及追加新的“额外人偶”等。
